  • World Cup 2018- England flypast it's coming home

England manager Gareth Southgate says the team dressing room is "a hard place at the moment", after his side went out to Croatia in extra-time in the Fifa World Cup semifinals.

And Kieran Trippier, arguably England's player of the tournament so far, scored an absolute peach.

Croatia meets France in the final of the World Cup at 5 pm CET on Sunday 15 July and a number of the 1998 side will be there already.

They were briefly silenced when Croatia equalised through Ivan Perisic in the middle of the second half.

England will play Belgium in the third-place match on Saturday, so there's still a chance that Southgate and the team won't walk away totally empty-handed.

Backing Stones to score anytime in this match is the selection.

While most of us will be plonking ourselves in front of a screen for the big game between England and Croatia tonight, there are a dedicated few that are actually making the trek over to Russian Federation to see the action unfold IRL.

Croatia become smallest nation to reach World Cup final since 1950
We can at least defend two crosses. "We restored some pride back into the shirt, which was an important thing for us to do". Romelu Lukaku will nearly certainly start as he needs two goals to overtake Harry Kane and win the Golden Boot.

England was last at this stage in 1990, when they lost to West Germany on penalties in that famous game when midfielder Paul Gascoigne was left in tears after being booked. We're taking it step by step. We're going to celebrate, to rest and then we will prepare for France. For 70 minutes we battered them.

"I'm still heartbroken and never felt so gutted".

"We have to be pragmatic and we have to be realistic", French manager Didier Deschamps said ahead of England vs. Croatia, according to ESPN.

"I was in Nice to watch us lose too Iceland, I was in Kiev to lose against Italy". "We played today better than against Argentina".

"Tonight was a wonderful opportunity for us and you can't guarantee that those opportunities will come again", he added.

The Croatians went into Russian Federation as the 20th-ranked team in the world, but in particular their midfield talents of Real Madrid's Luka Modric and Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic meant they were fancied by many as dark horses for a decent run.
