Police in the United Kingdom have warned they can not guarantee the safety of the public after the death of a woman who came into contact with the Novichok nerve agent near Salisbury in southern England.

Dawn Sturgess, a mother of three, died on Sunday evening the Met said in a statement shortly before 10pm.

Russian Federation has committed an attack that resulted in the death of a Briton, defense minister Gavin Williamson said on Monday, linking Russian Federation to the incident after a 44 year-old woman who was poisoned by nerve agent Novichok died. He had also fallen ill and was taken to the hospital.

Russian Federation has denied any involvement in the Skripal case and suggested the British security services carried out the attack to stoke anti-Moscow hysteria.

The Kremlin has said that it was sorry to hear about the death of Ms Sturgess, but said that any suggestion that Russian Federation was involved would be "quite absurd".

The Skripals have been released from hospital but the investigation into the attack on them continues.

On June 30, police found Dawn Sturgess collapsed in a house in Amesbury, England. Ms Sturgess has since died in hospital.

Despite the lack of evidence and deepening mystery many have been quick to point the finger at Russian Federation and brand the Amesbury poisoning "collateral damage". Mr Rowley (inset), who had the highest concentrations of the nerve agent on his hands, is seen buying cans of super-strong lager and sharing a laugh with the cashier, who takes his money and packs up the alcohol for him.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the head of UK Counter Terrorism policing, said 100 detectives are working as quickly as possible to identify the source of the recent contamination.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said she was "appalled and shocked" by the death of Ms Sturgess.

"We need to establish quickly what they came into contact with and where", he said.

He said people in Salisbury should not pick up odd items such as needles, syringes or unusual containers. Police suspect Rowley and Sturgess handled a discarded item from the first attack, though they have not determined for certain that the two cases are linked.

An exterior view shows Charlie's Store open as usual, in which CCTV from inside appeared to show Dawn Sturgess the day before she became seriously ill, in Salisbury, England, July 6, 2018.

Police said Ms Sturgess' family had been notified and were receiving support.

Six locations visited by the couple in Salisbury and Amesbury before they fell ill have been cordoned off, including Mr Rowley's home on Muggleton Road in Amesbury, a Boots shop and a Baptist church. "However, it is important that the investigation is led by the evidence available and the facts alone".

Glen told BBC radio the two may have handled a contaminated object due to their "habit of looking into bins" and police were trying to work out "how they came into contact with this nerve agent and when".

This has been identified as the same type of nerve agent that contaminated both Yulia and Sergei Skripal.
