It was the second longest Wimbledon match ever - and longest Wimbledon semi-final - as it lasted 6 hours and 35 minutes.

Now, Anderson will face American John Isner, who will be making his Grand Slam semi-final debut on the Centre Court.

While the U.S. Open would have a 6-6 fifth set end in a tiebreaker race to win by two, with every point building in importance and drama, Wimbledon uses advantage sets and insists that you must break your opponent's service game and win the set by two games to win the match.

In a match full of booming serves and countless aces, the first three sets were all decided on tie-breaks.

Melichar and Peschke will play the victor of the second semifinal between No. 3 seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic and the unseeded pair of Alicja Rosolska of Poland and Abigail Spears of the U.S.

He finally broke the 33-year-old American in the 49th game of the decider after coming close in a couple of earlier games and looked impassive as he held his nerve to secure victory.

The Wimbledon semifinal between Kevin Anderson and John Isner is going to a fifth set.

When their semi-final ticked past the five-hour 31-minute mark, it beat the previous mark set by Marin Cilic and Sam Querrey in the third round in 2012.

Competing for the University of Georgia Bulldogs between 2003-2007 and he had an unbelievable result in both singles and doubles, winning 283 matches for the Bulldogs overall!

Anderson is trying to follow up his five-set win over Roger Federer in the quarterfinals, with both men appearing in their first semifinal at the All England Club. Brian Norton was the last South African man to reach the final in 1921.

Nadal leads their series 26-25 heading into Friday's match, including 9-4 at Grand Slam tournaments.
