  • Barcelona sign Clement Lenglet on five-year deal from Sevilla

Lenglet becomes Barcelona's second major signing of the summer, after Arthur arrived from Gremio for €40m on Monday.

Barcelona have signed French defender Clement Lenglet from Sevilla for €35.9million (£31.7m) on a five-year deal after paying his release clause, the La Liga champions said on Thursday.

The Catalan giants announced the signing on their website and revealed he will sign a five-year deal with a €300 million (£265 million) buyout clause.

La Blaugrana paid Lenglet's full €35m release clause after failing to negotiate a lower fee for the France worldwide.

Jordan Henderson hopes his record-breaking England run can continue
The England regular spoke highly of fellow midfielders Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic along with Liverpool team-mate Dejan Lovren. Henderson is somewhat of a good luck charm of England .

The 23-year-old made the switch to Spain in January 2017, leaving Nancy, for whom he was captain - and seamlessly fitting into Jorge Sampaoli's team.

Barca now have four centre-backs in their ranks with Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen.

Manchester United were also credited with an interest in securing his signature, but Lenglet has opted to stay in La Liga with Barca.

Mina's the favourite to be allowed to go - be that on loan or permanently with a buy-back option - but Paulinho's return to China means Barca no longer need to free up a non-EU spot in the squad.
