  • US President Donald Trump and Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May held a meeting on Friday at Chequers the prime minister's country residence near Ellesborough northwest of London

Opponents of US President Donald Trump inflated a 6-meter (20-foot) blimp of the US leader as an orange, diaper-wearing baby carrying cellphone next to British parliament on Friday.

Responding to Mr Trump's comments about The Sun, a spokesman for the newspaper said: "We stand by our reporting and the quotes we used - including those where the president was positive about the prime minister, in both the paper and in our audio - and we're delighted that the president essentially retracted his original charge against the paper later in the press conference".

May also wants Trump to pressure Russia's Vladimir Putin, whom he will meet in Finland immediately after leaving Britain, about the Novichok poisonings on English soil in which intelligence agencies believe the Kremlin had a hand.

"Obama failed very badly with Crimea", Trump said.

"The relationship is very, very strong, we have a very good relationship", Trump said.

"The deal she is striking is a much different deal than the one the people voted on". "I was very surprised and saddened that he was getting out of government".

Another wrote: "I think I can hear Dusty singing "The Look of Love".

"We have left North Atlantic Treaty Organisation with more money, more spirit, more unity than even before", Trump said.

"Whatever you do is OK with me", Trump said.

But at the Chequers news conference, Trump said he had been responding to the Sun's question about Johnson as a possible prime minister, adding: "He has been very nice to me".

"I don't think he would have done that if I were president", Trump responded.

He also said meeting the queen would be an experience Trump "will really cherish". "I'm very consistent", he replied. Trump has described the spending situation as "disproportionate and not fair to the taxpayers of the United States".

But within days, two senior ministers had quit, departures which Trump said earlier in the week had left Britain in turmoil.

Dawn Butler, an lawmaker from the opposition Labour Party with responsibility for women and equalities, told TIME: "Theresa May has failed to be a critical friend to Trump".

But since coming to power a year ago, Trump has sought to improve relations with Putin amid tensions between Moscow and the West.

The "millions and millions of people" who are immigrating to Europe is "very, very sad", Trump said, telling The Sun that "allowing the immigration to take place in Europe is a shame".

But on Friday, Trump said that after speaking with May and her advisers he had been convinced a trade deal "absolutely will be possible".

"If we get along with China and Russian Federation, that will be a good thing, not a bad thing", he added.

Trump has also frequently angered British politicians and has been involved in social media spats with London's Muslim mayor Sadiq Khan who he said had "done a very bad job on terrorism".

Under fire for his warm embrace of Russia's Vladimir Putin, Trump turned a harsh spotlight on Germany's own ties to Russian Federation, declaring Wednesday that a natural gas pipeline venture with Moscow has left Angela Merkel's government "totally controlled" and "captive" to Russian Federation.

At the same time Washington wanted to put on paper its concerns over Moscow's alleged meddling in the 2016 president election in the United States, the newspaper said, citing unnamed USA officials.

"I know Londoners are resolutely opposed to the politics of fear and despair".

"We had a dinner, where I think we probably developed a better relationship".
