Anderson, who graduated from the University of IL, came through another marathon match to beat Roger Federer in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, winning their fifth set 13-11. The 50-game final set took about three hours alone.

Anderson will now attempt overturn a losing record against both Nadal (5-0) and Djokovic (5-1). Not only is he advancing to the first Grand Slam semifinal of his career at Wimbledon, he and his wife, Highland Park native Madison McKinley, are expecting their first baby girl.

Isner played in his first Wimbledon quarterfinal match Wednesday, beating Canada's Milos Raonic.

Kevin Anderson's Wimbledon dream is alive and well after an extraordinary five-set win to the US' John Isner to reach Sunday's final.

He then converted his first match point when Isner sent a shot wide - after 6 hours, 36 minutes.

Isner then shrugged off needing treatment on a blistered serving hand, found time to usher a ladybird to safety before levelling the match in another tiebreak off his 19th ace.

He fashioned three break points from the next rally and took the second, the first break in 49 games. It was a drama filled set that went back-and-forth, similar to the third set.

The two are meeting for the second time in ten years.

Anderson notably broke Isner in the eighth game of the third set to lead 5-3, only to play an ill-advised forehand in the next game, which allowed his opponent to roar back from 15-30 down and break right back.

Victory on Friday would put him in a sixth Wimbledon final and 25th at the majors. We played each other in college probably three, four, five times.
