Well, the specifics are a bit vague on Russia's end, but the gist is that the Russian space agency is now using an updated navigation system on its resupply missions.

It marked the first time such a fast-track approach was used.

The Progress 70 resupply ship, loaded with nearly 2,721 kgs of food, fuel and supplies, is set to launch from Baikonur space port in Kazakhstan at 3.51 am (Kazakhstan time) on Tuesday. The of late concluded flight was made to display accelerated capacity that may be utilized on subsequent Russian cargo and crew launches wrote NASA officials.

This time around, the Russian Progress freighter travelled from Earth to the ISS in three hours and 40 minutes. Progress-MS-09 is expected to dock to the ISS on July 10 at 04:39 Moscow time.

Trump will travel by helicopter once there, making it unlikely he'll see protests firsthand. Later, Trump will go to Windsor Castle for tea with 92-year-old Queen Elizabeth.

Progress 70 is not ready to come home yet.

At the moment of launch, the International Space Station, streaking through space at almost five miles per second, was expected to be just 370 miles to the southwest of Baikonur. In the past, it took the Progress ships about six hours or two days to reach the space outpost. "Third time was the charm". Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems will launch a Cygnus cargo mission to the ISS for NASA in November, followed by a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft later that month. The vehicles look like Russia's crewed, three-module Soyuz spacecraft but can not carry people.

The European Space Agency has also launched cargo to the ISS with that agency's Automated Transfer Vehicle, the last of which flew in 2014.
