Donald Trump meets Queen Elizabeth II 'for a cup of tea'

  • Queen Elizabeth II arriving at Royal Ascot Day 1 at Ascot Racecourse in June

It's generally quite hard to upstage the queen of England, but President Donald Trump might have managed to do so.

Britain´s Queen Elizabeth II (L) and US President Donald Trump (R) inspect the guard of honour formed of the Coldstream Guards during a welcome ceremony at Windsor Castle in Windsor, west of London, on July 13, 2018 on the second day of Trump´s United Kingdom visit. Meetings between Trump and his allies are often awkward and tense, but this was probably one of the worst.

A Guard of Honour, formed by the Coldstream Guards, gave a Royal Salute and the US National Anthem was played.

Leo Murray, who calls himself "Trump baby's" daddy, told Phillips that the 20-foot-high protest balloon design was chose deliberately because Mr. Trump, "is uniquely vulnerable to personal insults, so we just got right down at his level, to speak to him in a language that he understands". Trump has met with Prince Charles previously, while Melania met with Prince Harry during the Invictus Games in Canada in 2016.

And if keeping the Queen waiting is not enough, Trump, while inspecting the Guard of Honour at Windsor Castle, cut off the monarch and "dared to walk in front of him!" The President wore a suit and tie and the first lady wore a pale pink Dior suit with matching skirt and black belt.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump met Britain's longest-serving monarch at Windsor Castle as part of a four-day tour.

POTUS messed up big time when he walked ahead of Queen Elizabeth II at their first official meeting on July 13.

89 killed, 120 hurt in Pakistan election campaign bombing
It came hours after another bomb killed at least four people at a campaign rally in Bannu in the country's northwest. The military denied the accusations, and said its assistance had been requested by Pakistan's election commission.

While Trump typically likes to take the lead, he appeared to follow the queen's direction, adjusting his pace to hers. Her gait has slowed over the years and she walks slowly and carefully.

The Trumps and the queen were scheduled to spend about 30 minutes getting acquainted over tea inside the castle but the visit stretched past 45 minutes.

A source close to Trump was quoted as saying: "He won't put up with being lectured by anyone, even a member of the royal family".

In a meeting like this, etiquette requires Trump to wait until the queen offers her hand, then to shake it politely and move on. "I think she represents her country so well".

"You could see that suppressed dominance where he felt that he had to still motion to her. She is just an incredible woman".

"My mother loved the Queen".

Trump said his respect for the queen is hereditary.
