For perspective, the longest Major League Baseball game this season lasted 5 hours and 48 minutes.

ESPN commented the match lasted longer than the original Star Wars trilogy at a combined total of 6 hours, 19 minutes.

With Merton council imposing at 23:00 BST curfew on play, the players will resume their encounter before the women's final between American 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams and Germany's Angelique Kerber.

"You feel like it's a draw between the two of us, but somebody has to win". John´s a great guy. "I can feel the crowd (get) pretty antsy for us to get off the court".

"If I had been on the opposite side, I don't know how you can take that, playing for so long and coming out short".

"If you ask majority, I'm sure they would have preferred to see a fifth-set tiebreaker, too".

"But at the same time, I'm through to the final".

Isner finished the tournament with a record 221 aces.

Kevin Anderson celebrates winning a point against John Isner during their long semifinal match Friday at Wimbledon.

One of Anderson's best plays came in that lengthy final set.

After losing the second set, he turned into Vintage Djoker and won 12 of the next 16 games to return to the Wimbledon semis for the seventh time.

He fashioned three break points from the next rally and took the second, the first break in 49 games. He then converted his first match point when Isner sent a shot wide - after 6 hours, 36 minutes.

Anderson into Wimbledon final after second longest ever Grand Slam singles match
It was the second longest Wimbledon match ever - and longest Wimbledon semi-final - as it lasted 6 hours and 35 minutes. Now, Anderson will face American John Isner , who will be making his Grand Slam semi-final debut on the Centre Court.

Kenya ranked 3rd innovative economy in SSA
The country's rank has been improving from the 81 spot in 2015 to the 60 place in 2017. As in previous years, Switzerland was rated the most innovative country.

The final set alone lasted two hours and 50 minutes.

Andy Murray's third-round match against Marcos Baghdatis in 2012 pushed the limit to 11.02pm and the time was exactly the same when Nadal netted a backhand to give Djokovic a two sets to one lead.

Isner, 33, stands 6ft 10in and come the final points he looked nearly too tired to move for the ball.

Another alternative to watch Wimbledon matches featuring Nadal live and free is to try out the FuboTV 7-day free trial which means you can check it out without any obligation to buy. There was the deluge of aces (more than 100, in fact), the three tiebreakers, the final set that itself lasted almost three hours.

He never got a break point in the fifth set.

It was a similar tale in the fourth set where the South African broke for 3-2 only to hand the break straight back.

Djokovic set himself up to take the first set with strong service games, facing no break points, and broke in the seventh game before sealing it with a forehand victor.

The decisive moment came in game 49 of the decider, when Anderson lifted himself off the floor, kept the point alive with a left-handed shot and went on to complete just the sixth break of the match.

Nadal and Djokovic will meet for the 52nd time.

Nadal, the 2008 and 2010 champion, trails Djokovic, the 2011, 2014 and 2015 victor, 26-25 in a rivalry which began at Roland Garros 12 years ago. Not only is he advancing to the first Grand Slam semifinal of his career at Wimbledon, he and his wife, Highland Park native Madison McKinley, are expecting their first baby girl.
