Amazon Prime Day: The best deals on bluetooth and wireless speakers

Amazon kicked off its big Prime Day sales promotion with technical glitches on its website and app, threatening its 36-hour sales extravaganza.

Amazon said on Twitter that "some customers are having difficulty shopping, and we're working to resolve this issue quickly,". We're not certain this is due to the same overload, but it does seem unusual.

While Amazon doesn't disclose sales figures for Prime Day, Deborah Weinswig, CEO of Coresight Research, had estimates it will generate $3.4 billion in sales worldwide, up from an estimated $2.4 billion past year.

Prime Day, created by Amazon in 2015 for its 20th anniversary, has inspired other companies like Wayfair to invent their own shopping holidays. In addition to this, an instant discount of 10% is given to the using HDFC Debit and Credit cards and straightway 10% cashback for those using their Amazon Pay balance to make their Prime Day purchases.

The Ver.di services union said workers at six German sites went on strike Tuesday to protest a lack of health benefits.

Instead, they noted that sometimes the company had exceeded its forecast and other times it hadn't. Analysts had been modeling $3.94 billion in revenue and EPS of 79 cents.

Amazon added that in the first hour of Prime Day in the USA, "customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour previous year".

Nearly as soon as it started, Amazon customers eager to indulge in an orgy of consumption found their purchasing plans paralyzed - because Amazon's servers refused to accept payment details.

"Amazon is a fair and responsible employer and as such we are committed to dialogue, which is an inseparable part of our culture", spokeswoman Melanie Etches said in an email.

As of Monday afternoon, there were 4,670 social media posts about the Prime Day crash.

The Prime Day computer glitch - which appeared to be the most widespread to date - and worker strikes added up to a spate of bad news for the online giant, which has been heavily promoting its discount event for weeks. And Kodali said Amazon has plenty of time to salvage the day. "Amazon has neglected this responsibility for years and denied its people the right to set rules - in a collective agreement".
