In his apology, Musk said his words were "spoken in anger" after Unsworth promoted what he called "several untruths and suggested I engaged in a sex act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness".

Apologising to Unsworth, Musk, sharing his regret over making such a comment said, "His (Unsworth) actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologise". However, when the former provincial governor in charge of the rescue operation, Narongsak Osottanakorn, said that "the equipment he brought to help us not practical for our mission", Musk seemed to take it personally.

Mr Unsworth told reporters on Monday he was considering legal action.

The tweet was referring to the interview Unsworth did with CNN that was released Friday.

Tesla investors had requested that Musk apologize.

Musk, chief executive of the electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc, offered a mini-submarine created by his rocket company SpaceX to help extract the youth soccer team and the coach from the labyrinth of partly flooded passages.

The tweets, which Musk subsequently deleted, set off a storm of criticism.

CEO Gives His Car to Employee Who Walked 20 Miles to Work
On Monday, Bellhops CEO Luke Marklin surprised Carr by giving him his own 2014 Ford Escape , which he drove down from Chattanooga. That's when Knighten and two other officers took him to breakfast. "He is humble and kind and cheerful and he had big dreams".

Unsworth was shocked by the allegations Musk laid against him, telling he was "astonished and very angry" at the attack.

"It just had absolutely no chance of working".

Musk then took to Twitter and wrote that he would make a video proving that the submarine would work - finishing the tweet with: "'Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it".

Unsworth said Musk could stick it "where it hurts" prompting the controversial tweet from the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company.

The boys, aged 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach became trapped by floodwater while exploring the Tham Luang cave system on 23 June.

Mr Musk said Mr Osotthanakorn had been "described inaccurately as "rescue chief" and was "not the subject matter expert".

The apology comes after Tesla's shares fell by more than 3% on Monday, wiping out nearly $2 billion (€1.7 billion) of the company's market value.
