The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least six of those killed were Syrian, with Iranian soldiers also stationed at the base.

It said that a suspected Israeli missile strike had targeted "positions held by Syria's regime and its allies at the Nayrab airport" and its surroundings.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the reports.

Syrian regime forces and Syrian Arab Red Crescent oversee the evacuation of opposition rebels and their families from the southern province of Daraa, Syria.

The UK-based monitoring group added that the attacks targeted warehouses where weapons belonging to the Syrian army and Iranian militias were kept, Haaretz reported.

Earlier, Syrian media reported the missile strike near the airport of Aleppo.

The attack is the latest in a recent string of similar airstrikes and missile attacks by Israel against military positions in Syria.

The Britain based monitor confirmed the strikes were near Neirab Airport.

Recall, July 8, the Israeli air force attacked the airfield "T-4" is located 70 km from Palmyra in East HOMS province.

Tehran has dispatched military advisers to aid Syrian President Bashar Al Assad's efforts to fight back a seven-year uprising threatening his rule, while Iran-backed forces, including Hezbollah, have been in the country fighting alongside government forces.
