Video shows the Cubs' first base coach, Will Venable, pick up a foul ball and lightly toss it to a boy who was sitting in the first row. However, the boy missed the ball and it rolled behind him.

The Cubs went on to defeat the St Louis Cardinals 7-2. But the young fan would get the last laugh.

Let this be a lesson to everyone: Do not steal blatantly steal a foul ball from a kid, especially on national television.

After the seemingly damning video went viral, with many vilifying this alleged ball thief, witnesses have come forward defending his honor. "ESPECIALLY if it's a kid", one fan wrote. That "should take care of it", the team wrote.

The Cubs tried to make it up to the boy by giving him a ball signed by All-Star infielder Javier Baez.

The US tariffs will cost Germany up to 20 billion euros (S$32 billion) in income this year, according to the head of German think-tank IMK.

Luckily, the story has a happy ending because the Cubs saw what happened and had a signed baseball delivered to the child.

One person defending the move responding to the tweet, "I like this guy, and he's got a pair of incredible shades on".

The man also reportedly helped other children get baseballs during the game.

The Cubs handled the Cardinals with relative ease today, seeing big days at the plate from Javy Baez, Anthony Rizzo, and Ben Zobrist.

"That's the game. That's the game-changer", manager Joe Maddon said. "Just give him a couple extra days".
