Loudwire reports that the 1964 International Harvester Metro was found abandoned and dilapidated in the woods near Chesterfield in Hampshire County, Massachusetts - approximately 180 kilometres away from the band's hometown, Boston.

The 1964 International Harvester Metro, which has a cartoon man and "Aerosmith" painted in bright yellow on the side, was used by the band when it was still trying to make a name for itself. The properties owner said that the vehicle was there when he bought the land from somebody who may have been connected with Aerosmith.

To verify it, they tracked down Ray Tabano, a founding member of Aerosmith, who was in nearby Stockbridge at the time.

"This guy is deep in the woods, he's off the grid, and I keep thinking to myself, 'what the heck would this van be doing here?'" Mike Wolfe mused on the van's unexpected location. Tabano confirmed the van was used by Aerosmith as it made its way to gigs in New England. For his troubles, the American Pickers hosts paid Phil $25,000 for the van, with Wolfe calling it "one of the biggest and most iconic pieces of rock and roll history". When Phil purchased the property, he told the Pickers that the van was already there.

'This is it, baby, ' the rocker said, as he took a look inside at the rotting interior, with a carpet on the ceiling that was falling off.

OFFICAL: Mateo Kovacic moves to Chelsea on loan from Madrid
Kovacic is one of two midfielders signed under new head coach, Maurizio Sarri , who brought Jorginho with him from Napoli . Should the deal go through, it will cap off a chaotic but all around excellent transfer window for Chelsea .

When he arrived, Tabano reminisced about what he called the "rolling hotel" that transported the band between local shows.

Tabano, who played in the band from 1970 to around 1972, said the van reminded him of "humble beginnings".

"We just got a piece of American rock and roll history", Wolfe said.

Aerosmith was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. The episode originally aired July 30 on the History Channel as part of the series' 19th season.
