Facebook Messenger added AR filters to its video call system past year - this allowed people to dress their faces up or alter them entirely, making for a much more humorous call with friends and family.

The introduction of games into Messenger is another strategy by Facebook to increase user engagement on the platform.

Facebook in a blog post yesterday announced a new feature in Messenger app for its users that makes connecting with friends in video chat even more fun and competitive. They are Asteroids Attack and Don't Smile.

The social media company said users of financial firms such as PayPal (PYPL.O), Citibank (C.N) and American Express (AXP.N) could link their financial accounts with Facebook's Messenger and chat with a customer service representative.

Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg have shown time and again that our personal data is far more valuable than our privacy.

God of War free New Game
Play the game in a whole new way by exploring new customization options with extremely powerful new armor sets and enchantments. Another feature of New Game+ is the ability to skip cut scenes - a much-requested option from the game's fan base.

While the AR game Don't smile is the virtual interpretation of the ultimate staring game, the Asteroid attack game requires users to guide a spaceship through their nose while avoiding obstacles.

"Don't Smile" is a game that harnesses the front facing camera of each device using Facebook Messenger to identify when a user gets a grin on their face.

Recently, In April, Snapchat rolled out its new AR gaming feature. That's just two of the launch titles, but Facebook is also going to launch "Beach Bump" where you will be passing a beach ball between your friends, and a matching cat game called "Kitten Kraze" in the future. With this surge in video chat calls, Facebook will look to introduce more interactive features like these into its Messenger app.

Through pure dint of being used by everyone, Messenger is becoming the defacto cross-messaging platform for many.

Facebook has had its fair share of scandals in recent months due to its privacy policy, and the latest has upped the ante.
