  • 2018 PGA Championship When to watch Tiger Woods on Friday

Tiger Woods got off to a rocky start at the 2018 PGA Championship at Bellerive in St. Louis, but the 14-time major champion has battled back. A lot better. While he was slogging around Bellerive at 2-under on the day at that point, Kevin Kisner was flirting with 61 and a host of others (Brooks Koepka, Adam Scott, Charl Schwartzel) were going low, too.

The 14-time major victor was three under for his round to that point and carried on where he left off on Saturday morning, pitching to five feet and holing the putt to improve to four under par.

At the par-5 8th hole, Woods had to lay up with his second shot but hit a great approach.

The four-time US PGA champion is 10 under on the front nine for the tournament, but two over on the back nine this week.

It left a sense of anti-climax, but Woods is still within reach of his 15th major, a situation few would have predicted at the start of a year which has seen the 42-year-old resurrect his career after debilitating injuries.

Victorian native Marc Leishman has dropped three shots to sink to two over alongside Queenslander Cameron Smith.

Outside of a third-place finish at the Masters, the former world No. 1 has lost his mojo for much of the season.

American pair Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland, along with Spain's Jon Rahm, are nine under as they all chase a maiden major victory.

The PGA have confirmed their third-round tee times, with Woods out on the course at 12:21pm local time.

At the 10th, Woods found the right rough and pitched to eight feet then made a tension-packed putt to rescue par, a right fist-pump showing his joy at avoiding a third consecutive bogey on the hole.

After completing his storm-delayed second round earlier in the day, Woods thrilled the galleries at the Bellerive Country Club by ripping through the first nine holes in just 31 shots to move within two shots of the lead.

Just ahead of them, two-time U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka narrowly missed a 20-foot birdie putt at No. 9. He was six shots back of the lead heading into the third round.

"I feel like we're in a good spot", Fowler said.

With a heat index north of triple digits and the kind of humidity that makes the championship's relocation to the more comfortable confines of May starting next year a welcome reprieve, the strongest have risen to the top. "I just wish I could have gotten myself a couple more shots closer to the lead". Rory McIlroy opened with seven straight pars, and then he belted a drive 359 yards on the par-5 eighth hole when the rain arrived.

"Obviously things haven't been going well for me this year".

Had he made the eagle putt, he would have had a good chance of getting into the final group on Sunday.
