White House aides aim to push back against Manigault Newman by going after her credibility and disputing parts of the book they perceive as unfair, said a White House official who would not go on the record.

At a biker's rally in Bedminster, New Jersey, the president was asked whether he felt betrayed by Omarosa ahead of the release of her new tell-all book, Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House.

President Donald Trump has one word to describe former White House staffer and fellow reality-TV star Omarosa Manigault Newman: "Lowlife". But Sunday she tells Chuck Todd that, after the book closed, she was able to hear it personally.

"I've heard his voice", Manigault Newman said. She will also appear Monday morning on NBC's "Today".

After playing a portion of the tape where Kelly describes what would happen should she depart the administration on "friendly" terms, Manigault-Newman called it "very obviously a threat".

Director of Communications for the White House Public Liaison Office Omarosa Manigault listens during the daily press briefing at the White House, Oct. 27, 2017. She says she had seen him acting inappropriately at numerous events he attended without his wife at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, including birthday parties, fundraisers and golf tournaments.

Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman called herself "complicit" in lying to the American people about President Trump's capacity to serve as commander-in-chief.

Manigault Newman said that she had a "blind spot" when it came to President Trump.

Privately, many are wondering how many tapes she might have - and whether they are heard speaking on them. And things getting ugly for me, and damage to my reputation, that is downright criminal.

Trump has retweeted white nationalist material, said Mexicans crossing the United States border are rapists and drug dealers, once referred to a Hispanic Miss Universe as "Miss Housekeeping" and employed Steve Bannon, a central figure of the new "alt-right" in America, as his campaign chief and top strategist for a time. The salary for the job was reportedly lucrative but she would have had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

As reports of accounts inside the book leaked out, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders slammed Manigault Newman as a "disgruntled former White House staffer" whose book is "riddled with lies and false accusations".

"I protected myself because this is a White House where everybody lies. I was complicit, and for that I regret".
