  • Civic Sport headlines Honda’s style and safety tech upgrade

We had already mentioned about Honda launching three new cars in the financial year 2018-19. The 2019 Sedan and Coupe turn it up a notch with evolutionary styling updates, front and rear. The front gets a new paint black upper fascia wing, atop a restyled lower fascia. The Civic Sport slots in-between the current LX and EX, with Honda positioning it as a more sharply-styled option for those on a limited budget.

Honda throws on 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, too, with a Berlina Black finish. The sedan differs from the coupe through the rear decklid spoiler plus the splitter-style rear bumper with a chrome-tipped polygonal exhaust inspired by the Civic Si.

Honda has revamped the 2019 Civic, making its Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance and safety technology standard on the sedan and coupe, regardless of trim level. Its engine is the same 2.0-liter naturally aspirated I4 that the base trim uses, mated to the buyer's choice of a CVT or six-speed manual. The FC is also the most popular auto in America with under-35-year-olds for eight of the past nine years, Honda says. Previously, Honda only made the suite of safety features standard on top-level Touring editions.

No big change from the well-received 10th-generation Civic, which is expected.

First introduced in the fall of 2015 in Sedan and later Coupe form, the 10th-generation Civic lineup includes the European-inspired Hatchback, the performance-focused Civic Si Coupe and Si Sedan and the world's fastest front-wheel-drive vehicle, the Civic Type R. Cumulative sales of the 10th-generation Civic will surpass 1 million units this year.

For the Indian market, the 2019 Honda Civic will get a 1.6-liter diesel engine and a 1.8-liter i-VTEC petrol engine. For the new model year, Honda has tweaked the styling.
