Google Has Killed Call Recording In Android Smartphone, Once And For All!

  • HTC reveals which four of its handsets will be updated to Android 9.0 Pie

Sadly, the latter has been missing for many using 5V/3A cables, including the one that comes with the handset in specific instances across Reddit and Google's Issue Tracker. Maybe the update will be rolled out to the users by the end of this year.

The tech giant told Android Police: "We're aware of an issue where non-Power Delivery (PD) USB-C chargers no longer rapidly charge the 2016 Pixel and Pixel XL after the upgrade to Android 9 Pie". This goes from devices running Android Go (Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 1) to last year's starters (Nokia 2, 3, 5, 6), the flagships (Nokia 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Sirocco) the updates (Nokia 3.1, 5.1, 6.1, 6.1 Plus) and the Chinese-only Nokia X5 and Nokia X6.

Motorola didn't want to say what smartphones will receive Android 9 Pie updates and when, but promised to come up with new information when it decides on a roadmap. Since Marshmallow, Google has made it hard to record calls on Android phones by killing the recording API, but this has not stopped third party developers finding ways around it. Users were already complaining about the same issue since weeks when Android P was under beta version.

The Moto G5, G5 Plus, G5S and G5S Plus users must be feeling a bit disappointed at the moment as the company will not be rolling out Android 9 Pie update. Interestingly, the recently launched Moto E5 and E5 Plus smartphones are not part of Android 9 Pie eligible smartphones list, which is quite surprising.

HMD also confirmed its last year's models including the Nokia 8, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 will be getting the Pie treatment, as well.

Devices participating in the Beta program from Sony Mobile, Xiaomi, HMD Global (Nokia devices), Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Essential, as well as all qualifying Android One devices, will also receive the update according to Google. The stable update should arrive sometimes this autumn, although we don't have an exact date to share with you.
