  • James Gunn Not Rehired for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

According to Variety.com, Gunn had a meeting with Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn recently to discuss the prospect of having his job back but after a lot of negotiation, it's been decided that the studio would stick with their decision.

Gunn was immediately fired by Disney when "offensive" tweets surfaced made by the director backwhen he was an aspiring shock comedian.

The Hollywood trade reports that in addition to the film franchise's cast petitioning for his reinstatement, Gunn's agents at UTA "pushed hard" for Disney to re-hire him.

Pratt said in the caption that although he didn't agree with the "inappropriate jokes" from years ago, Gunn was still a good man and deserved to be a part of "Guardians of the Galaxy 3".

Only hours ago, star Chris Pratt had expressed hope that all parties could strike a compromise and that Gunn could return. In the wake of James Gunn's sudden and unexpected firing from Guardians 3, voices across the industry have spoken up in his defence - including the Guardians cast themselves.

Turkey issues sharp tariffs on USA imports
The Turkish currency began to recover after authorities this week took steps to help bank liquidity and limit swap transactions. President Donald Trump said he had authorised higher tariffs on aluminium and steel imports from Turkey .

'In that time, we've been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as director of Volume 3 as well as discouraged by those so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him'.

Marvel president Kevin Feige was traveling on Tuesday when the meeting was held, according to sources, so he wasn't able to join.

It must be noted that both Marvel and Disney declined to comment to Variety on the story, but the outlet seemed confident enough in their sources to proceed with the story. The film was expected to go into production at the start of 2019, and while sources have stressed that Gunn's original script will be used for the next film, it is still very likely that whoever is brought in will still need to put a polish on it in order to add their stamp to the project.

Once Feige is back in town, Disney and Marvel will continue the search for a new director. That said, there is still no confirmation from Disney regarding the script, and with no director attached, much could change.
