Aretha Franklin, the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer who is the undisputed "Queen of Soul" died Thursday at age 76. "But we do have a chance to earn something more enduring", he added.

"During a tribute to Carole King, one of the evening's award recipients, Franklin brought down the house with a powerful rendition of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman".

Appropriately dubbed "The Queen of Soul", Franklin had over 100 singles on the Billboard charts over the course of five decades.

"We sincerely apologize to Aretha Franklin's family and friends", the network said in a statement.

Franklin ... passed away on Thursday morning, August 16 at 9:50 a.m.at her home in Detroit, MI, surrounded by family and loved ones. We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family.
