Fernando Alonso says his decision to quit Formula One at the end of the current season has nothing to do with McLaren's failure to give him a competitive auto since 2015.

Alonso says it is pretty easy to predict results in Formula 1 in the current era, which makes it tough for drivers amid the midfield with ambition to do anything outstanding, and if things do not change he can see other drivers losing the motivation and enthusiasm to race in the sport.

"Every driver in the world would love to be in a winning vehicle in Formula 1", he added. "He has done the same thing as what I chose to do - leave but leave it open, for one year after, to go back".

"I can't confirm what I'm going to do until a couple of months have passed and in October, we'll have a long road of predictions", he said.

"For me, it is not too much of a problem because after 18 years, as I said before, I achieved more than what I dreamed of".

"I think that's the right option to do". His most recent podium came at the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix during his final season with Ferrari and he has raced for McLaren since, where three poor years with Honda have been followed by another disappointing season under Renault power.

Many patients, evacuated from flooded hospitals, housed in some of these camps are more vulnerable to the unhygienic conditions. Aside from high profile pledges, UAE residents have organized small-scale donations and grassroots collections of supplies.

Alonso is hoping to continue his run of World Endurance Championship victories at the Six Hours of Silverstone race today - the Spaniard, along with Sebastian Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, has picked up the win in both races so far this year including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Spaniard made his Indy 500 debut a year ago, leading the race for 27 laps and was running seventh with 21 laps remaining when his engine failed.

Alonso expanded on his decision to retire from F1 at the end of the year, saying the predictability of the sport had made it boring recently, but Button has questioned the Spaniard's comments given the fact Alonso's only competition in WEC is his own Toyota team-mates and he is therefore nearly guaranteed to win.

As the year progressed, tensions within the Mclaren camp reached a boiling point when Alonso blocked Hamilton in the pitlane in Hungary 2007. You can't stop a racing driver racing. Why did I stop?

Jenson Button is certain former McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso would return to Formula One in the right scenario. "He's obviously racing in WEC".
