  • Trump Doesn't Mention Michael Cohen Or Paul Manafort At West Virginia Rally

While a federal jury convicted Manafort on eight of the 18 counts with which he was charged, it was unable to reach a verdict on 10 other counts, and Judge T.S. Ellis III declared a mistrial on those counts, according to an NPR report.

On Monday morning, Trump tweeted that Mueller's investigators "are enjoying ruining people's lives and REFUSE to look at the real corruption on the Democrat side - the lies, the firings, the deleted Emails and soooo much more!".

"Paul Manafort is a good man".

"I think it's very sad what they've done to Paul Manafort", Trump said Friday.

"This has nothing to do with Russian collusion", Trump blasted.

US Senator Richard Burr (Republican-North Carolina) said on Tuesday that any attempt by Trump to pardon Manafort "would be a gross abuse of power" and would require an immediate congressional response.

As if all this is not bad enough for Trump, at practically the same moment that Cohen was pleading guilty, a federal jury in Alexandria, Va., delivered guilty verdicts on eight counts against Trump's former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.

Manafort's guilty verdict may strengthen Mueller's hand as he continues to investigate possible conspiracy and seeks an interview with the president; an acquittal could have led to a broader effort by conservatives to shut down the special counsel's office. He pleaded to bank fraud, tax evasion and violations of campaign finance law.

Manafort's lawyer said his client is disappointed in his conviction and is evaluating all his options. Cohen's case was brought by federal prosecutors in NY after the Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team referred Cohen's case to them.

Nazi guard Palij deported by USA to Germany
Jews were sent to the camps as part of Operation Reinhard , the Nazi plan to murder more than two million Jews in occupied Poland. Although a U.S. court ruled he had assisted in the persecution of prisoners, he was not found personally responsible for deaths.

The outcome of the trial nearly certainly guarantees years of prison for Manafort.

Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani sought to cast the blame exclusively on Cohen in a Tuesday statement, saying: "There is no allegation of any wrongdoing against the President in the government's charges against Mr. Cohen".

Instead, the president focused on his 2016 election, praised Republican Gov. Jim Justice as "the largest, most attractive man" and insisted that there was no "collusion" during the presidential campaign.

"Mr. Manafort is disappointed of not getting acquittals all the way through or a complete hung jury on all counts", Downing told re However, he would like to thank Judge Ellis for granting him a fair trial, thank the jury for their very long and hard-fought deliberations. As a result, the judge did not set a sentencing date for the other charges.

Questioned by a federal judge, Cohen indicated he had paid sums of US$130,000 and US$150,000 each to two women who claimed they had affairs with Trump, at his boss's request in order to buy their silence "with the goal of influencing the election".

And perhaps most importantly, the government read from Manafort's own emails as they laid out their case, including messages where he personally directed withdrawals from the offshore accounts he never reported on his tax returns.

So far, no jurors have spoken to the media and their names were not made public so it is unclear how they determined their verdict.

Jurors found that Manafort, 69, lied to tax authorities about tens of millions of dollars he earned as a political consultant in Ukraine and lied to banks about his financial health to get loans.
