Tyson Fury still not enrolled in WBC's Clean Boxing Program

  • Tyson Fury joins anti-drugs scheme to ensure Deontay Wilder fight has title status

The build-up to the mega heavyweight fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has already been pretty explosive and that continued this week as their round table sit down aired in the United Kingdom on BT Sport.

"If he does not enrol, then the WBC can not sanction the fight", Sulaiman exclusively told Sky Sports.

Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs), who will be making his eighth title defense, has always been a strong advocate for a testing program specific to each of his fights, in part because he has seen three previous bouts canceled or had to find a new opponent because his original foe failed a drug test.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he didn't know about the lack of fury in the program, although, according to the rules of the organization, participation in this program is a prerequisite for participation in the rating.

Tyson Fury may be fighting Deontay Wilder on December 1st in Los Angeles, but if he does not enroll in the WBC's Clean Boxing Program by the end of this week, it may not be for Wilder's WBC world heavyweight championship.

"Fury has promised me a part in the program".

"He told me personally, publicly on Twitter".

Earlier, Deontay Wilder fell three times fights because of the positive doping tests of players - Alexander Povetkin vs Luis Ortiz and Andrzej Waurika.

Wilder told Fury, "It's not your time", and added: "This is my time".

The Briton spoke at length how he wants to face Wilder in a blockbuster bout, while Fury has also been mentioned.

Fury has also had issues with UK Anti-Doping, the agency that oversees drug testing in his home country, because he failed a drug test for the performance-enhancing steroid Nandrolone related to a 2015 fight - a fight that took place before he faced Klitschko - for which results were not disclosed until June 2016.
