  • Iranian-Saudi detente could transform the region and US power is there to prevent

Turkish security officials were working to identify the 15 individuals, English-language state broadcaster TRT World reported, adding that Turkish officials believe the Saudis may have taken the consulate's CCTV footage with them when they returned to Riyadh. Saudi Arabia may have agreed to the search in order to reassure its Western allies and the worldwide community.

Fifty-nine-year-old Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor, has been missing since last Tuesday after entering the Saudi consulate to gather documents for marriage.

The Manbij deal between Turkey and the USA focuses on the withdrawal of the YPG from the city in order to stabilize the region.

TRT World can only independently verify one of these claims as being accurate, according to a Turkish security source.

Whether this refers to the new General Directorate for Investigation as part of new Saudi state security departments created previous year is unclear.

Officials in multiple countries said that if Khashoggi was killed inside the consulate last week, it may have been because a plan to capture the man went awry, the Post reported.

This is the conclusion of Turkish officials as to the fate of Khashoggi, 59, who was last seen walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul October 2. "It is a awful thing", Mr. Trump said, about whether he believed the Saudi government had authorized the killing of Khashoggi. His fiancee and friends have said he did not leave the building.

Footage also showed some of the Saudis arriving in Istanbul after the first plane landed before 0030 GMT on October 2 and the men later checking into a hotel. His work has also appeared in Salon, Raw Story, Truthdig, National Memo, Philadelphia Weekly, Democratic Underground, L.A. Weekly, MintPress News and many other publications.

It shows purported Saudi intelligence officers entering and leaving Turkey via Istanbul airport. Two appeared to be members of the Saudi royal guard, pictured in a photograph next to Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. He went into self-imposed exile in Washington DC, while also maintaining a base in Turkey.

Trump declined to say whom he talked with in the Saudi government. The two soon agreed to marry, but in order to do so he needed to finalise his divorce with his first wife in Saudi Arabia.

Turkish officials launched an investigation and claim that the evidence already suggests Khashoggi entered but never left the consulate.

This much is true: He entered the consulate, and there's no proof that he came out.

If evidence implicates the Saudi Government in Khashoggi's disappearance or death, it would indicate a new level of violence that authorities are willing to undertake to silence criticism of the crown prince, whose jailing of opponents at home has undercut his efforts to fashion himself as a moderniser of his conservative kingdom.

The Saudi government asserted that Khashoggi left the premises shortly after his visit.

Stakes are high in the relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and Mr Trump is one of many Western leaders to stand by the kingdom's young leader Mohammed bin Salman.
