And it seems the fans have accepted Finn's appearance within the band ranks, with many saying they're now reconsidering their opinion of Fleetwood Mac's decision to adopt Finn into their ranks.

He was reportedly fired due to a scheduling conflict centred around a world tour, with the band replacing him for the live shows with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House leader Neil Finn.

The 69-year-old rejoined in 1997 and performed with them until January. In the past, Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks have cited a disagreement about tour dates and a comprehensive sense of dissatisfaction in the band as their primary rationales for deciding to fire Buckingham, one of the primary creative forces in the group. As Buckingham tells it, Stevie Nicks was ticked off at Buckingham over his antics at a MusiCares benefit concert in January and she gave the band an ultimatum: Either he goes or she goes.

Buckingham claims the group had bristled at his request to push the start of the tour from August to November so he could promote a solo album, and so he put his personal plans on pause so he could make the tour happen. Three days later, he discovered the band planned to tour without him.

'Am I heartbroken about not doing another tour with Fleetwood Mac?

The court documents include a copy of an email he sent to his co-stars in February, urging a reconciliation. "We have all done things that were not constructive".

"If there is a way to work this through, I believe we must try".

While Buckingham admitted he didn't remember Azoff's exact words, he said "that was the message".

Responding to news of Buckingham's lawsuit, a spokesperson for Fleetwood Mac said, "It is impossible for the band to offer comment on a legal complaint they have not seen". It's fairly standard legal procedure to service the complaint to the parties involved, something that neither Mr. Buckingham nor his legal counsel have done.

The suit comes a day after the publication of a fiery new Rolling Stone interview with Buckingham, in which he claims his former lover, Stevie Nicks, was behind his exit from Fleetwood Mac.

In April, drummer Mick Fleetwood - who co-founded the group in 1967 with original guitarist Peter Green - told the same magazine the band had hit an "impasse" with Buckingham.

He said that cutting him out of the band unexpectedly harmed the 43-year legacy that "we had worked so hard to build".
