  • Samsung Electronics acquired Zhilabs a Barcelona Spain-based provider of Artificial Intelligence-based network and service analytics solutions

Samsung praised Zhilabs for its solutions equipped with artificial intelligence technology, effectively carrying out complicated tasks, including finding out root causes and automatically fixing technical errors.

"5G is expected to expand indefinitely into new services as well as services for smartphones as a fourth industrial revolution platform", said Kim Young-ki, president of the Network Business Division at Samsung Electronics. As for the two's future goals, they include creating "new cutting-edge technology in the transformation from 4G to 5G" by leveraging "joint capabilities".

Zhilabs boasts customers such as Vodafone, O2, Telefonica, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, and TIM.

Samsung is well and truly signalling its 5G intent.

In a vein similar to many other smartphone manufacturers, Samsung is also attempting to get the early bird advantage by adapting and introducing 5G technology, which is the next logical step along the telecom industry.

OnePlus 6T event now happening October 29th because of Apple announcement
According to leaks on China's Weibo , the 6T will have an optical sensor that means a 2D scan of fingerprints. But the OnePlus 6 has proved to be a worthy competitor for Pixel devices in terms of camera performance.

In its announcement, Samsung said that Zhilabs is known for its AI-based network and service analytics.

The financial terms of this purchase have not been revealed, but Zhilabs will continue to operate independently under its own management as a full-owned Samsung subsidiary.

Samsung in August announced its plans to make $22.23 billion investment in artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, electronic components for autos, and biopharmaceuticals.

Established in 2008, Zhilabs now provides a solution that analyzes networks' conditions, performances and data traffic for different services.

"5G technology will disrupt the communications landscape for the better, but it will only be successful if the quality of the networks transferring the information can be measured and improved to provide a best-in-class experience", said Joan Raventós, CEO at Zhilabs. Samsung, of course, has already teamed up with large carriers to start powering commercial 5G networks.
