  • Brookwood High School marching band during recent half-time performance

Several marching band members with Georgia's Brookwood High School are facing the music this week after they chose to use instrument covers to spell out a racial slur during the halftime show at a recent football game. On Friday, however, the instrument covers spelled "coon" during the halftime show out on the field.

Ford insisted his school was "a very inclusive community" that 'care (s) about all of our students, ' acording to the Gwinnett Daily Post. Ford says two of the students are African-American, one is Asian and one is Hispanic and knew the slur was "not acceptable".

"Our band does not wear these covers on the field because they shield the sound and because during the halftime show our band members move around the field and do not stand in the same order as they do in the stands", Ford continued to explain.

There was an ugly incident at halftime of a Georgia high school game on Friday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

The students involved will now be disciplined and the high school's halftime procedures will be reviewed, Ford said. The school, Brookwood High of Snellville, Gwinett County, has a football team, as many others do.

Big turnout as America votes in test of Trump presidency
His campaign team created an advertisement focused on the caravan that was so racially charged that major TV networks pulled it. Joe Donnelly in IN and Republican Marsha Blackburn's win in Tennessee made it much more hard for Democrats to make inroads.

Sousaphone players at Brookwood High School (Snellville, Ga.) used the covers of their instruments to rearrange the word "Broncos" into a racist word during the performance on senior night.

"Haven't heard it in years, it's to belittle black people, it's an insult", Myers said of the term. "It's just like saying the n-word, but this is worse because it's coming from students at a public high school", said Myers.

Some parents told Fox 5 they wanted to see the students who were responsible expelled.

Myers, whose son is a freshman in the band, said the pranksters 'do not need to be back in that school until they learn that everyone is there for the same reason - regardless of color - to get an education'.
