  • ‘I don’t think you should live in India, go and live somewhere else’: Virat Kohli lashes out at fan

Known for his aggressive on-field attitude, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has now caught the Twitterati's ire for asserting those who love foreign cricketers more than Indian ones should leave the country. The controversial comments from the Indian cricket captain came while he was reading tweets and Instagram messages, and simultaneously responding to them in a video. The user says that it's preferable to watch Australian and English batsmen.

Interestingly, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane did not make any request to rest the batsmen.

This statement did not sit well with the energetic Indian cricketer who told the fan to "leave the country". After beating West Indies across all formats in the ongoing tour, Virat Kohli and co are now enjoying a short four-day break from their ongoing series with just a final T20I remaining.

India skipper Virat Kohli reacts after being dismissed.

The video, available on Kohli's recently-launched app, shows him expressing his disapproval after a fan called him an "over-rated batsman" and that he prefers watching English and Australian batsmen instead. Finally, it seems he has a backer in Dr. Subramanian Swamy, who feels there is nothing wrong with Kohli's statement as we live in a country where everyone has the right to Freedom of Speech. "I don't mind you not liking me, but I don't think you should live in our country and like other things", Kohli said in his response. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the quickest batsman to surpass 10,000 runs in the 50 overs format.
