Mail bomb suspect to appear in New York court on Tuesday

The man accused of sending pipe bombs to prominent critics of President Donald Trump is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday in NY, where prosecutors said they will ask for him to be held without bail because he is considered unsafe.

Dressed in a navy blue prison overalls with his grey hair pulled back and knotted at the back of his head, Sayoc appeared respectful and alert in court.
The 56-year-old will appear in federal court in downtown Manhattan at noon ET, according to a letter from federal prosecutors to Judge Robert Lehrburger.
Prosecutors said Sayoc "used mailing materials almost identical to the other 15 packages, including the same type of envelope, address format and stamps" on this package.
Prosecutors told a judge that Sayoc presents a flight risk and is a serious danger to the public.
