  • RAGING Donald Trump branded CCN reporter Jim Acosta a'terrible person

Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Trump, discusses Jeff Sessions resignation as attorney general and CNN reporter Jim Acosta's refusal to give up the microphone during a White House press conference.

Video footage and photographs showed the intern grazing Acosta's arm in trying to pry the microphone away, and briefly making contact with the hand holding the microphone.

Mr Acosta questioned Mr Trump's reference to the caravan as an invasion, and Mr Trump defended the term.

Sanders confirmed Acosta's claim and the White House Correspondents' Association - of which Fox News is a member - quickly released its own statement condemning the decision to revoke Acosta's credential.

The President was involved in a furious row with Jim Acosta following the midterms, which led to the CNN reporter being banned from the White House for "inappropriate behaviour".

Acosta said the accusations from Sanders were a lie.

"Yes, the White House press office is sharing a manipulated video that makes it appear that Acosta was menacing the intern when he was not and did not". The post-midterm election news conference marked a new low in the president's relationship with journalists.

When Trump tried to brush him off, Acosta refused to surrender a microphone provided by the White House, while trying to ask Trump another question.

"I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN", said Trump". The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, and the way you treat other people are frightful. "It's a very awful thing that you said". The White House has accused him of provoking confrontations, and he, in turn, has become a favorite target of insults lobbed by Trump's supporters, particularly during the president's raucous rallies.

In two separate tweets, he said: "I've just been denied entrance to the WH".

So what is it about CNN's chief White House correspondent that Trump just can't stand? Those were reporters working with CNN, NBC, other networks.

'You are a very rude person, ' Trump told him. "I never thought that in this country I wouldn't be able to cover the president of the United States just for asking a question", he said.

After the exchange, CNN, through its public relations department's Twitter feed, said Trump's attacks on the press have gone too far.

When Acosta tried to ask another question on Russia, Trump said "that's enough!" as a White House aide unsuccessfully tried to grab the microphone from Acosta.

Albright said videos like this pose an even greater risk of perpetuating misinformation than completely faked news videos, because they contain a grain of truth and will likely be given the assumption of accuracy.

CNN's Jim Acosta and President Donald Trump got into a heated exchange that left some conservatives and media figures at each other's throats.
