Chrome 71 Will Block All Ads on Abusive Sites in December

  • Chrome 71 will block all ads on sites with persistent malicious ad abuse

After the failure of last year's abusive web ad clampdown, Google will next month cut off revenue for websites that flout its rules against malicious adverts. Chrome 71, due for release in December, will blacklist sites that are repeat offenders and suppress all advertising on those sites.

Google will flag problems in an Abusive Experiences report and the site owners will get only 30 days to fix their directions with Chrome 71 that is scheduled for release in December.

Webmasters find information about abusive site experiences on their sites in the Google Search Console. These are sites that not only offered up pop-ups and redirects, but sites that try to trick you into clicking on things, like system warnings or "close" buttons that don't actually do those things.

This new policy is only the next step in Google attempting to control abusive experience online. In July, Google discharged Chrome 68 and acquainted the capacity with keep destinations from opening new tabs or windows on the off chance that it observed them to serve oppressive encounters too.

In fact, the new browser will remove all ads from sites that feature these types of ads, the company said in a blog post.

Unexpected Click Areas: Transparent backgrounds, non-visible page elements, or other typically non-clickable areas that lead to an ad or landing page when clicked. This means that all the ads on such websites will be blocked, even if all of them are not abusive.

"Following its own internal investigations into abusive web practices, Google claims to have identified the tactics that are being used". Failing to do so, will result in Google blocking every add on the website.

The company can do this via Chrome, the world's most popular internet browser. Such measures, of course, have been insufficient to prevent misleading or risky ads, which is why Google is taking action. "In fact, more than half of these abusive experiences are not blocked by our current set of protections, and almost all involve harmful or misleading ads".

As such experiences were becoming a commonplace with 1 in 5 feedback reports apparently mentioning some form of user-hostile content. This filter will be optional for users to turn it on or off from their Settings menu on Chrome.
