  • Nokia 8.1

Apart from the Nokia 8.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus for European markets are also expected to be launched.

It is meant to be a successor to the critically well-received Nokia 7 Plus - not the Nokia 8 and/or 8 Sirocco with which it shares a numerical association. It comes in three colour options of blue/silver, steel/copper and iron/steel. We can thus expect the smartphone to make its way to India this month as well.

Nokia 8 (2018) sports a 6.18-inch full HD+ notched display with a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels and the company's own PureDisplay technology, which converts SDR video to HDR in real time.

Nokia 8.1 is seen as a replacement for Nokia 7 Plus with an updated hardware and a new stylish design. For selfies, there is a single 20MP camera placed on the front.

Nokia 8.1

The device is expected to pack a Snapdragon 710 processor instead of a Snapdragon 835 chipset that was found on the flagship level Nokia 8. This smartphone supports microSD cards up to 400GB large - and it's got a headphone jack too.

For imaging, Nokia 7.1 has a ZEISS-enhanced dual-lens camera system at the back, comprised of a 12-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel lens. The rear camera comes with features such as Optical Image Stabilization, Electronic Image Stabilization, dual PDAF, AI scene detection and optimization for low-light photography. NFC for Google Pay and a rear fingerprint sensor round out the package. The display also offers a notch and comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It features a two-tone design, and is built out of 6000-Series aluminium that has diamond cut edges and has been through two anodising processes, the company claims. Nokia 8.1 is the global variant of the Nokia X7 which was launched in China in October. On that note, the phone is powered by a 3500mAh battery, and supports fast charging. It measures 154.8x75.76x7.97mm, and weighs in at 178 grams.
