Pakistan to bring peace to Afghanistan through dialogue, PM says

Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused the U.S. of "pushing Pakistan away" and said he would never want to have a relation with Washington where his country is treated like a "hired gun".

"Ambassador Khalilzad stressed the United States' commitment to facilitating a political settlement between the Afghan government and the Taliban that ensures Afghanistan never again serves as a platform for global terrorism and ends the 40-years-long war in the country", noted the embassy statement. It's a trade relationship between two countries and we wanted a similar relationship with US.

"The security situation in Afghanistan remains hard, we have seen a number of high profile attacks in the past month, but the Afghan forces stand firms so do we. We do not want to have conditions imposed on us which would cause more unemployment and inflation".

When asked about his stance regarding the killing of Osama Bin Laden, Khan said "most Pakistanis felt deeply humiliated that we were not trusted, implying that we were complicit in it".

Dr Faisal said there were no preconditions for this cooperation for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.

The premier also spoke about the Yemen issue and said, "I spoke to Saudi Arabia and Iran's foreign minister regarding establishing peace in Yemen".

Talking about Yemen, he said Pakistan has found an opportunity to play mediator.
