While the root cause has not been revealed, prior to the patch, some Pixel 3 owners ran into situations where apps would close or shut down seemingly at random, sometimes even in the middle of an operation.

Internet search giant Google has announced that it is now rolling out e-SIM support for latest handsets - Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

Besides patching the security issues, the update addresses a number of performance issues on the Pixel 3 and other smartphones.

Pixel December security patch

As a reminder, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL both feature a fast Qualcomm 845 processor, wireless charging, dual front-firing stereo speakers and Active Edges which allow users to interact without touching the screen. The update should be available on your Pixel today. When you think about it, there's really no reason getting connected to your phone network should require a little piece of plastic: why can't you just sign in with your credentials like every other digital service? The app looks like an updated version of the Sounds menu found in the Pixel Settings.

The key advantage of eSIM connectivity is the enabling of multi-SIM access on the Google Pixel 3 range.

Finally, the last two patches in December's security update apply to Android Auto features, which expand and improve compatibility for Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 devices, as well as making overall improvements to Pixel 3 audio performance for some vehicles when using Android Auto. Obviously, the base model Pixel 3 with 64GB of storage will be the one that will cost you the least amount of cash - after the $125 discount, you'll pay $674 for that model.
