On Thursday, Google announced a new effort to personalize the audio news feed available through the company's digital assistant software.

This new experience will bring you an audio news playlist assembled in that moment, for you. The latest is the Google Assistant news briefings which will now offer tailored briefings - at least for those in the US.

Apparently you'll be able to skip news stories - but it's really the immediacy of these stories that will make the difference. In a blog post, the company said it's been working with over a dozen news organisations including The New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, Hollywood Reporter, the South China Morning Post and Billboard to deliver an audio news feed that adapts to listener habits and preferences as well as the time of day.

Credit: Tom's GuideCurrently, you can get news through a number of Google Assistant skills from media outlets, and if you wanted to hear them all in a row, you could create a Routine. However, the content is usually taken from television or radio casts. Now rolling out to a select number of users is an artificial intelligence-infused news briefing that will give you the rundown of worldly occurrences you need to hear about.

As result, expect the new audio experience to deliver shorter and punchier content, with less intro music, and for now, no ads. After going through a few quick stories, longer-form content will be introduced to the mix. For now, a story is expected to be less than two minutes for short-format entries and between two and 15 minutes for medium-format listings.

Google is now searching the options they got for the future of audio news on Assistant with Google News and publications around the world.
