Las Vegas police have issued a warrant for soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo's DNA as part of their investigation into a rape allegation against him, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

A law enforcement official with knowledge of the case told the Wall Street Journal that authorities in Sin City recently sent the warrant to court officials in Italy, where the 33-year-old now plays for Juventus.

Authorities have reportedly obtained the accuser Kathryn Mayorga's dress from the alleged incident and are now looking to see if Ronaldo's DNA is a match.

Las Vegas police reopened the case previous year after Mayorga claimed she had been raped by the footballer in a hotel suite after a night spent partying in 2009.

Now, according to Yahoo's Shams Charania, McCaw will sign a one-year contract with Toronto for the veteran's minimum of $786,000. After the guard signed a non guaranteed offer sheet with the Cavs , the Warriors decided not to match it.

Cristiano Ronaldo's lawyer, Peter S. Christiansen, has refused to make a statement on the latest developments in the case. But the Las Vegas Police Department did re-open this case in September of 2018 when allegations again emerged.

According to the lawsuit filed by Mayorga, after the pair met at a night club Ronaldo invited the alleged victim and a friend back to his penthouse suite. Once there, say the court papers, he urged her into his hot tub, but she refused because she did not want to spoil her dress. As she was changing, he purportedly came in and asked her to carry out a sexual act.

"After much thought, I am reaching out to Kathryn Mayorga and her legal team to offer my assistance in her rape allegation against Cristiano", Lennard tweeted, according to the New York Post.

Lennard, 33, called the footballer "a psychopath" in now-deleted tweets, in which she pledged to assist the woman who has accused Ronaldo of rape. It seeks to void a $375,000 non-disclosure settlement after the 2009 encounter.
