  • Driver crashed into another car while participating in the 'Bird Box Challenge'

"Can't believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE", Netflix tweeted on January 2.

"This happened on Monday as a result of the driver covering her eyes while driving on Layton Parkway", Layton Police tweeted Friday. She then skidded into the other lanes and hit another vehicle, a light pole and a sound wall. Police say the young woman in question had pulled her hat over her eyes while she was driving, which resulted in the crash.

"Luckily no injuries", police wrote. It's unclear how many people were in the SUV.

Initially, police were told the crash was caused by the driver getting distracted while she talked to her 16-year-old male passenger, Lyman said.

The streamer previously issued a warning against participating in the "Bird Box Challenge", which involves performing often risky stunts while blindfolded.

Well, we might be getting into an area where films that become pop-culture phenomenons require ridiculous warnings because just like the idea of sticking your head into a bee hive or swimming with sharks, driving with a blindfold isn't the cleverest thing to do.

These actions inspired Netflix to release a statement, urging people not to put themselves in danger with the viral challenge.

Authorities are asking the city attorney to charge the teen girl with misdemeanor reckless driving, the Standard-Examiner reported.
