The Sun state that struggling Burnley have slapped a staggering £50million price tag on their English centre-back, which they hope swats away Premier League leaders Liverpool, who are in desperate need of a defender following their injury crisis.

The German tactician has seen his squad reduced to the bare bones defensively due to the injuries to the central defensive duo of Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp should abandon any plans to try and sign James Tarkowski and instead put his faith in wonderkid Ki-Jana Hoever.

Klopp, though, claims the Reds are not actively seeking new signings and Dyche dismissed the veracity of murmurs concerning Tarkowski.

"There are a lot of rumours out there, and not much fact", Dyche told reporters ahead of Saturday's game against Fulham.

The teenager is eligible to sign his first professional deal on his 17 birthday in just over a week's time, and there is a feeling around Anfield that he could be one of the most impressive young players to emerge in recent years.

"It's that time of the season, and everyone is looking for a snippet, but there is a lot of phantom stuff out there".

Though now apparently third choice, Dyche insisted 31-year-old Hart is not upset by the sudden change in circumstances.

But if either Tom Heaton, Joe Hart or Nick Pope wanted to leave on loan, the Clarets boss would at least discuss their situation. A top pro as well.

Regarding the Hart links, the former Watford boss added: "We haven't had any enquiries, for anyone by the way - because there are other unusual stories knocking around, freakish ones".
