  • Meghan's patronages: Duchess of Sussex's four new causes revealed

The Queen passed on two patronages - the National Theatre and the ACU - to the Duchess.

"As well as a double major in theatre and worldwide relations from Northwestern University, which is renowned for its drama programme, Her Royal Highness volunteered at a performing arts after school programme for children in underprivileged school districts in Los Angeles".

The Duchess of Sussex will become Patron of four charity organisations close to her heart, including the National Theatre in London, which the company accidentally let slip on their website on Wednesday.

The Duchess of Sussex's royal patronages have been announced and they include two organisations that the Queen once looked over.

Kensington Palace said Thursday that Meghan will take over two roles as patron that have for decades been held by Queen Elizabeth II and is taking two other roles as well.

Meghan, who is thought to be around six months pregnant, will visit one of her patronages, Smart Works, later on Thursday.

Finally, she will work alongside Smart Works, a company which helps long term unemployed and vulnerable women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed at job interviews, return to employment and transform their lives.

Former actress Meghan turned stylist for the visit and helped to select clothes for one of the charity's clients, Patsy Wardally.

The Duchess of Sussex is officially back to work following the holidays, and has some new duties.

Apart from her new positions with these four organizations, Meghan will continue her work with The Royal Foundation, of which she is joint Patron alongside Harry, Will and Kate.

The National Theatre confirmed the Duchess had met privately with the director of the National Rufus Norris at the theatre past year, and is expected to carry out a public visit at the theatre at some point in the next few weeks.

While Markle's support and celebration of the British fashion industry has been made clear for some time, it's fantastic to see her apply that to a positive cause.

Meghan will have an affinity with the National theatre after spending a decade working in television where she was best known for her role in the hit U.S. legal drama series Suits, playing paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane.

"She has done so much research". She's also worked with the United Nations, advocating for women's rights.
