  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Schools Joe Lieberman Over Remarks That She’s Too ‘Controversial’

Ocasio-Cortez, a first time candidate, delivered a shocking upset previous year when she ousted 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York's 14th congressional district. Many pointed out the fact that since the one-time vice presidential nominee isn't even a Democrat anymore, maybe he should keep his thoughts on the future of the party to himself. He frequently voted along Republican ideology lines, and post-retirement from the Senate, served as head counsel for the white collar criminal defense and investigations practice at a law firm that did extensive work for Donald Trump and then later failed to mention that as a conflict of interest when necessary.

Ocasio-Cortez's plan would start applying the 70 per cent rate after the first $10 million.

The failure to provide the coverage to campaign staff is particularly awkward for Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic socialist who rose to stardom after unseating top Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley with a campaign theme of improving conditions for the working class. But after the story published, she responding to the report on Twitter Friday, writing, "To quote Alan Moore: 'None of you understand. You're locked up in here with ME'".

The campaign of rookie U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has been fined by the state for not providing workers' compensation coverage for a month past year. Older and wiser Democrats don't care how many Twitter followers she has or how much ink she's getting.

Ocasio-Cortez also advocates for an ambitious "Green New Deal" that calls for a transition to a 100 percent renewable energy system and the complete replacement of America's power grid as a means of generating jobs and saving the natural environment.

Incumbent Democrats are most annoyed by Ocasio-Cortez's threat to back primary opponents against members of their ranks she deems too moderate.
