Egypt hitman Salah converted the penalty he won for himself to steal Liverpool a 1-0 win at Brighton on Saturday, reaffirming the Reds' Premier League lead.

But after beating Arsenal 5-1 and Newcastle 4-0 in the games in which Salah won penalties, Robertson believes their complaints are excuses.

"This player has become a far more important addition to the Liverpool set-up than I first realised", said Crooks.

"Every time it happens, we go back, everyone looks at the video, and you go, "Well, it's not a dive", Robertson told United Kingdom newspapers.

"Brighton tried a little bit to bring the long balls to Murray and around him, which they did, by the way, against Joe Gomez in the home game as well".

Salah was awarded another penalty against Brighton on Saturday after being clearly fouled by Pascal Gross and the Egyptian was subsequently booed by the crowd at the Amex Stadium after converting the spot-kick.

'I was at the edge of the box (against Brighton) and it was a stonewaller.

"If Liverpool go out and put in a massive performance against one of the big teams, they put them to sleep and win three or four-nil, then you get the momentum again".

With Liverpool firmly embroiled in a title race, Rio Ferdinand has set rivalry aside and used his experience of playing under Sir Alex Ferguson to advise Jürgen Klopp and his side on how best to win the Premier League title from here.

"We never really speak about the games before, we concentrate on the game".

"It's that winning mentality".

"We have Joel now back as he was on the bench against Brighton but he as well will use the time for bone healing and it all helps so it's good for us in that way".

"So there will be games over the season and whoever does that will probably have three or four games to look back on and if we manage to do it, I'm sure we'll look back on this game as one of them".
