The New York freshman lawmaker was one of the sponsors at Thursday's unveiling of a Green New Deal resolution on controlling climate change.

"Americans deserve better than to foot the bill for the Green New Deal's reckless, expensive, and unattainable goals", said Oklahoma Republican Representative Markwayne Mullin.

Ocasio-Cortez said she was not offended that Pelosi called the resolution "the green dream".

Ocasio-Cortez was not chosen for the panel in what is widely regarded as a snub.

"She did in fact invite me to be on the committee", the New York Democrat said.

The Green New Deal resolution unveiled Thursday would provide guidance on the drafting of legislation. Lastly, the Green New Deal will "promote justice and equity by preventing current and repairing historic oppression to frontline and vulnerable communities".

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is set to release her much-touted Green New Deal on Thursday - a package of far-reaching, big-government proposals like health care for all, federal job guarantees and a push to eliminate USA carbon emissions - but it's already receiving shade from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). "I do know its enthusiastic and I welcome all the enthusiasm that is out there", she told reporters during her weekly press conference. But she welcomes "the enthusiasm that is there".

Sir Gary considered the finest all-rounder ever, was the last West Indies player to top the all-rounder rankings in 1974. Cameron did not specify exactly what modification he favored, and he is not arguing the letter of the law.

Greg Carlock, Green New Deal director of think tank Data for Progress, said lawmakers who seek middle ground policies that fall short of Green New Deal goals will lose youth support in future elections. She said she wants to hear from a newly established select committee on climate change, which will consider options not named in the Green New Deal.

Ocasio-Cortez's ideas have also received plaudits from Justice Democrats, a progressive political action committee that has been instrumental in trying to push the Democratic Party to the left.

The Green New Deal would be paid for "the same way we paid for the original New Deal, World War II, the bank bailouts, tax cuts for the rich and decades of war - with public money appropriated by Congress", Ocasio-Cortez said. Suzanne Bonamici of Oregon, Julia Brownley, Jared Huffman and Mike Levin of California, Sean Casten of Illinois, Donald McEachin of Virginia and Joe Neguse of Colorado.

The panel will be chaired by Rep. Kathy Castor of Florida, who was chosen in December. The resolution calls for "meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources".

Markey, a veteran Congressman from MA, introduced sweeping climate change legislation a decade ago, which passed in the House but was blocked in the Senate.

The broad outline called for meeting 100 percent of US power demand through clean and renewable energy, as well as upgrading "all existing buildings in the United States" to achieve maximum "energy efficiency, water efficiency, safety, affordability, comfort, and durability".

The resolution paints a grim view of present-day America, saying it is "experiencing several related crises" including declining life expectancy, economic stagnation, erosion of worker bargaining power, increasing income inequality and the exacerbation of "systemic racial, regional, social, environmental and economic injustices".
