Delta yanks ‘creepy’ suggestive napkins from planes after backlash

Delta Air Lines and Coca-Cola have issued apologies after travelers were provided with napkins on flights that featured controversial writing. Complaining passengers had a different take: "creepy".

Delta has stopped sharing a set of napkins that encouraged passengers to share their numbers with a "plane crush", NBC News reports. "Because you're on a plane full of interesting people and hey...you never know", read the napkins, which provided a place for names and phone numbers to be exchanged. "Unintentionally creepy" is a complaint voiced by one passenger, and another tweet being widely cited in coverage has a similar theme.

While some found the napkins clever and charming, others thought they were creepy.

"We are sorry for that and began removing the napkins from our aircraft in January", the airline told Insider. We worked with our partners at Delta to begin removing the napkins last month and are replacing them with other designs'.

Passengers slammed the companies on social media. posting pictures of the napkins. and calling them "creepy".

In a statement to Newsweek, Delta said: "We rotate Coke products regularly as part of our brand partnership, but missed the mark with this one".

But there were those who rallied behind the marketing tactic, praising it for being 'cute'.

Both Delta and Coke have since apologized for the napkins, with Delta admitting they "missed the mark with this one".
