  • Check Out Blue Will Smith in New Aladdin Teaser

A new teaser for Aladdin debuted during Sunday's Grammy Awards and revealed Smith in all his CGI glory - sparking instant reactions across social media.

Finally: the blue Genie is here.

Smith, who announced in October that he'd be playing the live-action version of Robin Williams' iconic Disney role, was transformed in a brief commercial for the movie during the show. Mena Massoud stars as the street-rat-with-a-heart-of-gold Aladdin, with Naomi Scott as the attractive and determined Princess Jasmine. And I say this as someone who's been an ardent defender of Ritchie's last couple of fun-filled blockbusters. "Genie, wishes lamp... none of that ringing a bell?"

The blueness of the genie seems to sit in opposition to previous studio-released looks of Smith in full genie getup, which feature a decidedly less-blue skin tone.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the actor quipped: "I told y'all I was gon' be Blue!"

The minute-long spot offers brief glimpses at Aladdin (Mena Massoud), Jasmine (Naomi Scott), Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) and the other denizens of Agrabah in the Guy Ritchie-helmed musical, due out May 24.

There's plenty more goosebump-inducing moments in the one minute clip, including the "do you trust me?" meeting of hands before Aladdin and Jasmine go over sideways and under on their Whole New World magic carpet ride.
