  • 21 Savage released from ICE detention

Grammy-nominated rapper 21 Savage was granted bond for release Tuesday after spending more than a week in federal immigration custody, but he wasn't freed right away, his lawyer said.

Written by the rapper's legal team, Kuck Baxter Immigration on their Facebook page confirmed the news reports that he was released from ICE's possession.

21's reps said he actually came to the US when he was 7 years old and stayed until June 2005 when he visited the United Kingdom for a month. His release comes two days after he had to miss a scheduled appearance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

Rapper Post Malone performed hit track "Rockstar", which features 21 Savage, alone at the show in Los Angeles.

Mr Kuck said earlier that 21 Savage was "not a flight risk" and was a "prominent member of the music industry" who would be recognised if he tried to flee.

Kuck has said his client has a U-visa application pending with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services and "has relief from removal available to him".

ICE says Abraham-Joseph is unlawfully present in the US and also a convicted felon.

Ludwig Goransson, a Swedish record producer, shouted out to 21 Savage while accepting the award for Record Of The Year at the Grammys for "This Is America", from Childish Gambino.

21 was arrested by ICE on February 3. And asks for your hearts and minds to be with them'.

Cox said Abraham-Joseph overstayed his visa after he entered the United States legally in July 2006. His second solo album "I Am I Was", released in December, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Abraham-Joseph was convicted on felony drug charges in Georgia in 2014, and was arrested as part of a targeted operation with the cooperation of local law enforcement, an ICE spokesman told Reuters when the rapper was taken into custody.
