  • Netanyahu confirms Israel attacked Iranian targets in Syria

"We're trying to expand the number of nations who are engaged and have a stake in the future of a peaceful and prosperous Middle East", Brian Hook, the State Department's special representative for Iran, told Reuters.

Oman hosted the Israeli leader in October and several high-ranking Israeli ministers have also made visits to countries in the Gulf over the a year ago.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set the tone Wednesday, declaring the gathering in Warsaw important because it gives Arab countries and Israel a chance to meet openly "to advance the common interest of war with Iran".

"Many are following in your footsteps, including among those here today at the conference", a statement released by Netanyahu's office quoted him telling, whose Gulf state hosted the Israeli leader in October.

The comments were made to reporters on the sidelines of the Warsaw Middle East ministerial following Netanyahu's meeting with the Sultanate of Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi. "Now we say, this is a new era, for the future".

Hosting the meeting is a chance for Poland's conservative government to bolster ties with Washington at a time when it is increasingly isolated within the European Union amid a dispute over its adherence to rule-of-law standards. Israel lacks both formal diplomatic and economic relations with the United Arab Emirates.

Two days after Netanyahu's trip to Muscat, which was celebrated on the front pages of several Omani newspapers, bin Alawi suggested at a conference in Bahrain that the time had come for Israel to be treated like any other state in the region.

Netanyahu and bin Alawi are now in Warsaw to attend a so-called "Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East", which is being co-organized by the U.S. and Poland.

Netanyahu is one of the highest-ranking officials in attendance at the summit, alongside foreign ministers and officials from 60 other countries.

Arab nations and Israel faced a common threat of Iranian regional aggression and Washington was working closely with these nations to counter this, he said.

Pompeo and Czaputowicz only mentioned Iran indirectly, carefully avoiding the impression that the summit's focus is an effort to isolate the Islamic Republic.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the Trump administration is unlikely to make a big splash at the conference with an announcement of its impending Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.
