Woman who threw chair from Toronto condo balcony turns herself in

  • A woman was charged after she was accused of throwing a chair off the balcony of a high-rise in Toronto reports said

Video of the incident sparked widespread outrage.

On Monday, a video began circulating on social media that appears to show a woman dressed in black trousers, a black leather coat and black high heels tossing the chair over the balcony, which is several storeys high. Police said other items were tossed off the balcony as well.

Const. David Hopkinson says the woman turned herself in this morning and will appear in court later in the day.

Zoia was charged with "mischief endangering life, mischief damaging property under $5,000 and common nuisance", the media outlet reported. She was released on $2,000 bail and ordered to live with her mother. She must also not have any contact with the four people who were with her at the time.

She is also not to attend two addresses - one on Maple Leaf Square and the other on Bremner Boulevard. She smiled as reporters asked her questions, but did not say anything. She wishes it never happened.

Leslie said she understands the public outage.

Toronto Mayor John Tory condemned the alleged actions, saying they can't be tolerated. It was grossly irresponsible behavior that could have caused serious injury and death'. "I hope they would've concluded that earlier on".
