  • Woman seen on video tossing chair from Toronto condo surrenders to police

Video of the incident sparked widespread outrage.

On Monday, a video began circulating on social media that appears to show a woman dressed in black trousers, a black leather coat and black high heels tossing the chair over the balcony, which is several storeys high. Police said other items were tossed off the balcony as well.

Const. David Hopkinson says the woman turned herself in this morning and will appear in court later in the day.

Zoia was charged with "mischief endangering life, mischief damaging property under $5,000 and common nuisance", the media outlet reported. She was released on $2,000 bail and ordered to live with her mother. She must also not have any contact with the four people who were with her at the time.

She is also not to attend two addresses - one on Maple Leaf Square and the other on Bremner Boulevard. She smiled as reporters asked her questions, but did not say anything. She wishes it never happened.

Leslie said she understands the public outage.

"It was not just a lark gone bad". He said he would have discussions with the prosecution and the case might not go to trial.

The Toronto police have thanked the public for their assistance identifying the woman.
