  • Marvel reportedly developing 'What If?' animated anthology series for Disney+

In the last few months, Marvel's next set of acquisitions has been the subject of a lot of speculation and hearsay, with some fans even hoping that Endgame will tease the new arrivals in the post-credits scene.

While Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and Disney CEO Bob Iger have both been reluctant to talk in detail about the future of these characters in the MCU, both have strongly hinted it will happen.

The What If... series was first published in 1977 with a story called "What If..." This reached its peak during the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when X-Men and Fantastic Four were over at Fox, and Spider-Man was at Sony. Pretty much all of the What If comics brought enticing scenarios to the table, such as "What If: This Was the Fantastic Four" which featured Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Hulk. Will it be adult in nature or aimed at younger audiences?

Spotify argues that it has to raise prices, making it more expensive than Apple's own streaming service, Apple Music . As I recently shared, competition pushes us to evolve and improve both the customer and creator experience.

Marvel certainly is not playing around when it comes to Disney plus content.

This is a fun way to tell other stories, other impossible stories, without compromising what they have built. What's interesting, Marvel Studios is working on an animated anthology series based on the comics.

These stories will, of course, be separated from the MCU, and could push the boundaries of the characters involved without fear of reprisal. The comic snob in me hates that idea but it makes ideal sense to do it that way, which means there go my chances of seeing the X-Men lose Inferno and Wolverine eating a baby...yeah What If... comics have got some wild stuff in them. I just love the idea of a What If? animated series, because I've always loved the What If? comics, which have the freedom to tell any story they want, kill any character they want, and do all kinds of insane junk you could never get away with in your average Marvel Comic. We getting an animated Marvel What if...
