  • The arrow that pierced a man's iPhone and nearly killed him

In a odd incident, a man was saved because an I phone took an arrow for him.

A man avoided hospital after being shot at by an alleged bow-and-arrow wielding assailant, with his smart phone absorbing the blow.

Once the resident exited his auto, he noticed another man, who was known to him, standing outside his property armed with a bow and arrow.

A police statement said the visitor, who was known to the victim, engaged his bow and allegedly fired the arrow.

He got out his auto and tried to take a picture of the man who then allegedly fired an arrow at him.

The 43-year old man had returned on Wednesday to find the man, who was known to him, waiting outside his home in Nimbin, a small east coast town around 150 kilometres (93 miles) south of Brisbane.

However, due to the high impact made by the arrow that hit the phone, a small gash was caused that didn't require significant medical treatment.

The attacker was arrested at the scene and was taken to a nearby police station, where he was charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious damage.

He will face court in April.
